STUDIES OF THE SALIVARY GLANDS SCINTIGRAM

Abstract
|
|
|
The author observed the scintigram of the salivary glands with ^(99m)Tc and Scintillation Camera in 6 normal and 3 dry mouth subjects.
The following conclusions were drown from the abservations:
1) ^(99m)Tc pertechnetate is selectively concentrated by the salivary glands, thyroid gland, oral mucosa and oral cavity which concentrated by minor salivary glands.
2) Salivary gland size varies, but in al lormal subjects the glands have been symmetrical.
3) ^(99m)Tc Pertechnetate uptake decreased in subiects with "dry mouth".
4) It has been observed that oral activity of ^(99m)Tc cannot be rinsed. away with physiological saline.
